The interest you owe
hrough baptism
you, the newly-enlightened, have learned the true meaning of the mysteries
in which you have been found worthy to share. Meditate on these mysteries.
Now that you have been ransomed, never again permit yourself to be taken
prisoner. Now that you have renounced the devil, commit yourself to Christ
and never again allow yourself to be led astray. Having made this contract,
you must think about the interest you owe. Since you have been entrusted
with this talent, you must see that you make some profit from it. You have
become a partner in a marriage, so do not commit adultery by blasphemy.
You have been set at liberty, so do not insult your liberator as though
he were your slave. This shining white garment you have now put on must
be matched by the radiance of a pure conscience. You have laid aside your
former garment and all it signified; therefore, do not grieve the Spirit.
